ABOUT: The Feursbrunn Vineyard, where these grapes are grown, is located 820 ft above Sea Level in a flat area around the village of Feuersbrunn. Vines are 25-30 years old, on average.
VINIFICATION: “The vineyards are flatter and receive less strong sunlight, so they are somewhat cooler. The wines display more minerality. There is a very little water here, the yields are therefore small, and the grapes in return are particularly aromatic und fragrant." Grapes are hand harvested, with discernment grape and single berry selection, Fermented and aged on the yeast in big oak for 12 months
TASTING NOTES: This is a traditional Austrian grape variety. A very elegant wine, harmonious, filled with ripe black cherry and subtle mocha notes. The palate features ripe deep fruit with a gentle smooth medium-bodied mouthfeel. The finish is long and has slightly spicy peppery nuances.
Medium-bodied. Shining Ruby color with shimmering Crimson reflexes. Aromas of Cherry Fruit with Mixed Berry undertones. On the palate this wine is elegant, complex & multi-layered. Notes of Ripe Black Cherry, w/ subtle Mocha notes. There is a slight Vegetal note that intermixes with the young berry fruit to add additional fine spice notes. Harmonious and balanced on the palate, w/ mouth-coating tannins, tones of Mon Cheri (Chocolate Covered Cherry bonbon) and an expressive, complex finish, with a range of flavors, Chocolate & Pepper notes.
