HISTORY: From the founding of the estate, all vineyard work has been done without herbicides, fungicides or synthetic chemicals of any kind. Fertilization has always been organic. The unique expression of natural wine at Caprandole starts with immaculate vineyard practices. Caprandole is a totally original wine. The hills here have no winemaking tradition. So the tradition had to be forged, imagined little by little every vintage. They added a second wine over time (now known as “Il Caprandole”) made from Sangiovese. They continued experimenting changing the blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Fogliatonda. They developed a long maceration style, which is unusual for Tuscan reds, and a long aging regiment in both stainless steel and wood. The results have created long lived wines with lots of complexity that don’t require much sulphur to stabilize and are easy to drink.

ABOUT: The Vineyards - Vigna Bocciolè planted in 1971; Tirle, planted in 1998; Vigna Camponovo planted in 1999. South-East exposure, at 330 meters ASL. Soils are Clayey, with a lot of Galestro.

VINIFICATION: Grapes were Hand-Picked in the first week of September, and co-fermented in Stainless Steel tanks w/ Indigenous Yeasts. Grapes are de-stemmed, but whole berry macerated for 12 days. The wine then undergoes Malolactic Fermentation, before being aged in Stainless Steel tanks for 11 months, after which it was further aged in bottle for 3 months. Only cartridge filtered before bottling (10 micron). Suitable for Vegans. Low intervention. TOTAL SO2: Approx. 55 mg/L during harvest, during racking, before bottling
