This vino amaro aperitif drinks like a combination of Amaro and an Oloroso sherry. Cardamaro is a base Moscato wine with an infusion of herbs, mainly of Cardamon and Roman thistle. Flavors of Ginger, Artichoke, and a touch of Sweetness on the palate make this a fine way to start your evening.
Cardamaro is a wine-based aperitif, infused with cardoon and blessed thistle (two artichoke relatives), then aged in oak. The result has the richness and weight of sweet vermouth, and only a gentle herbal bitterness.
Drink as aperitif or digestif, outstanding with cider, or use in place of vermouth in many cocktails. Because of the subtle oak treatment, it is possible to use Cardamaro in place of bourbon or rye for an Old Fashioned or Manhattan.
