100% Chardonnay from the North Fork AVA, Long Island, New York. Sustainably Farmed.
If you drive about ten miles out from Brooklyn, over the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to Staten Island, you will be in the Grymes Hill neighborhood where Josh Carp first started making wine.
He worked out of his parent's basement and used a neighbor's wine press for his early vintages before continuing with more formal training. After taking extension classes from UC Davis and doing hands-on work in New Zealand and Long Island, Josh was finally ready to put some juice in a bottle and sell it to the locals. At the moment, he's a one-man show: salesman, delivery guy, and winemaker. All the fruit is sourced from a co-op in the North Fork, and Josh turns it into something magical.
VINIFICATION: The Carpé Vino stainless steel Chard, when chilled, has the crispness of a Sauv Blanc with no butteriness and no oak. This method of fermentation gave the wine the flavor of the grape, rather than the barrel. As the wine warms, it shows the wonderful fruit-driven flavors found on the North Fork of Long Island.
TASTING NOTES: Medium-bodied, dry. Fresh and crisp, with hints of salinity, this is 100% stainless steel fermented & aged Chardonnay. Aromas & flavors of Lemon, Apple, Pear and tropical notes on this summery wine with no oak or Malolactic fermentation to weigh it down. A delicious snapshot of Long Island in your glass.
FOOD PAIRING: Pair with local Fish/Shellfish, Chicken, White Meats like Pork & Veal, with Salads & with lighter fare.
