Brooklyn Oenology Winery is a locally-focused winery based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, founded in 2006. BOE extends the fundamental idea of terroir, which is essentially a combination of factors that create a wine’s sense of “place,” by incorporating
the local agricultural, creative culinary, and art worlds.

The Red Hook Winery, founded in 2008, aims to uncover and highlight the best vineyard sites in New York state. From the salty, sea-breeze-blown North Fork of Long Island to the stone, shale, and winter-dominated Finger Lakes, Red Hook Winery works with grape farmers who give agricultural definition to New York’s nascent winegrowing country. Their winemakers create unique expressions of these individual vineyard sites, producing wines that reflect the climate, geology, and viticulture that make New York unlike any other growing region in the world.

The Gilded Grape is proud to carry selections from Red Hook Winery including the Jamesport Vineyard 2009 Petit Verdot (aged two years in French oak) and the Macari Vineyard 2014 Merlot, which wraps you up in its comforting aromas of blueberry and vanilla.

In 1810, a French Huguenot emigre named Jean Jaques purchased land in New York’s bucolic Hudson Valley and began planting grapes. By 1837, Mr. Jaques needed more land, so he purchased a plot in the quiet village of Washingtonville, NY, and planted another vineyard. By 1839, his first underground cellars were dug and Mr. Jaques fermented his first wine vintage. Those cellars,
the oldest and largest in America, are still in use today at Brotherhood Winery.

Queen's Courage Distillery

Queens Courage, created in 2014, is a refined interpretation of Old Tom gin, a style of gin that was very popular in the 1800’s and pre-Prohibition era. As a result, many classic cocktails call for, and can only properly be made with, Old Tom gin. Queens Courage was carefully formulated to work as a key ingredient in a wide variety of cocktails, and is also smooth enough to enjoy neat or on the rocks. In addition to using New York grains, they use 100% pure New York honey to sweeten the gin, a portion of which comes from rooftops in New York City. Queens Courage also includes a malt component that gives it a luscious mouth-feel and also imparts a subtle malty sweetness. The primary citrus component in Queens Courage is grapefruit which contributes a lovely and unique citrus note, and also adds a slight bitter note that complements the honey used to make Queens Courage an Old Tom gin.

Queens Courage is a product of the Astoria Distilling Company, a small family owned business committed to opening a craft spirits distillery in the borough of Queens, NY. As a Queens-based distillery their vision is to celebrate the diversity of Queens by producing premium spirits that reflect the cultural heritage of our global community.

Kings County Distillery

Kings County Distillery is New York City’s oldest operating whiskey distillery, the first since prohibition. Founded in 2010, Kings County makes handmade moonshine, bourbon, and other whiskeys out of the 17-year-old Paymaster Building in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.  They use New York grain and traditional distilling equipment to make distinctive spirits.  Their whiskeys have won numerous awards from the American Distilling Institute, the American Craft Spirits Association, and the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and have been praised by the New York Times, Wine & Spirits Magazine, GQ, The New Yorker and other sources.  

The Gilded Grape especially loves the fact that Kings County Distillery only distills whiskey for their own label and never buys bulk whiskey from any other source. Our favorite selections from Kings County include their Moonshine, a corn whiskey made from
80% New York State organic corn and 20% U.K. grown malted barley and their Peated Bourbon, which conforms to the American requirements for bourbon but is made with malted barley that has been exposed to peat smoke, a practice more common in Scotch whiskies. The malt they use for the peated bourbon was even grown and kilned in Scotland.

In 1973, John and Ann Martini moved from Baltimore to Anthony Road to set up their farming life on the west side of Seneca Lake
at the urging of a friend that touted the joys of grape growing in the finger Lakes of New York State. Neither Ann nor John had any agricultural background, but together and with the help of family and friends, they planted their first 5 acres, Foch, in the
summer of 1973. Over 40 years later, Anthony Road has expanded by hundreds of acres and remains a family owned and operated winery. The location of the vineyards in close proximity to Seneca Lake lends itself to a favorable microclimate for a grape growing. Cooling in the summer and a few degrees above average temperatures during the winter. 


The Gilded Grape carries a wide variety of wines produced by Anthony Road. Some favorites are the Unoaked Chardonnay,
with its inviting aromas of pear, apple, vanilla, wet stone and orchard blossom, and Tony's Red, a refreshing table wine that's
on the sweet side without being too fruity.

Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard
Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard

Hermann J. Weimer is regarded as one of the pioneers of viticulture and winemaking in the Finger Lakes. As a native of Bernkastel, 
Germany who emigrated to the Finger Lakes in the1960s, Herman J Weimer was uniquely qualified to help establish and create
a wine region now known for its Riesling identity. His mother's family had been making wine in Germany's Mosel valley for more
than 300 years. His father, Josef, a skilled nurseryman, was responsible for restoring wines in the Mosel region after WWII.
As a result, he recognized the  importance of grafting conifers on American rootstock. 


In the little town of Dundee, on the western shore of Seneca Lake, Hermann discovered that the cool climate and gravely soils of
the Finger Lakes were similar to his family's vineyards in the Mosel Valley.  Herman believed that the unique soil types and
moderating weather affects of the finger lakes would make it possible to produce great wines here. Hermann purchased 80 acres
of land on which they now have the winery and the "HJW Vineyard". The New York State winery, producing approximately 14,000
pieces each year, was designed in 1982 by an award winning team of Cornell architects. 


The Gilded Grape carries several selections from Hermann J. Wiemer, including their Semi-Dry Riesling, a refined interplay of
sweetness and crispness with a refreshing minerality. 

Ravines Wine Cellars
Ravines Wine Cellars

Ravines Wine Cellars is a boutique winery in an emerging world-class wine region, the Finger Lakes of upstate New York. It is the dream and passion of Morten and Lisa Hallgren, a European Winemaker/Oenologist, and his Chef/Foodie wife. In 2000, the Hallgrens purchased a 17 acre parcel of land on a glacier-carved hillside on the Eastern slopes of Keuka Lake. This land is located at the widest part of the lake, which allows grapevines to receive maximum benefit from its temperature-moderating effects. It has a good slope which keeps the mineral rich soils well-drained, and is situated between two deep ravines, which drain cold air from the land during the winter. These ravines are the namesake of the winery. Ravines remains a small, distinctive winery, crafting elegant and food friendly wines using Old World winemaking traditions with New World innovation.


The Gilded Grape is proud to carry selections from Ravines including Keuka Village White, a refreshing blend of Cayuga and Vignoles with delightful tree fruit flavors of Bosc pear, green apple, and honeydew melon, and Keuka Village Red, a delicious blend of Noiret and Cabernet Franc. It's bright and fruit-forward with peppery hints and soft tannins.

After several years spent planning, experimenting, and building a distillery in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, NY, Greenhook Ginsmiths released their flagship, American Dry Gin, in February, 2012.  Founded by gin enthusiast, Stephen D'Angelo and his
brother Philip, Greenhook Ginsmiths quickly emerged as America's premier gin artisans. Greenhook Ginsmiths craft their gin on a custom-made copper pot still, designed to work in conjunction with a vacuum, which allows them to remove air pressure from the still during distillation. This technique known as "vacuum distillation" allows Greenhook Ginsmiths to distill their gin at low temperatures, 
and prevents the delicate aromas of their botanicals from becoming stewed with excessive heat during distillation. This unique  
process creates beautifully fragrant gin with lifted aromas and vibrant flavors unlike any other. 


The Gilded Grape's favorites from Greenhook Ginsmiths include their American Dry Gin, with gentle notes of elderflower and chamomile combined with the classic flavor of Juniper, as well as their lovely and unique Beach Plum Gin, made by soaking
whole Long Island beach plums in their signature American Dry Gin for seven full months, with just a touch of turbinado sugar. 

Van Brunt Stillhouse

Van Brunt Stillhouse takes a time honored, traditional approach to distilling. Established in 2012, they source wheat, rye and corn directly from upstate New York farmers, and make every spirit from scratch in the waterfront neighborhood of Red Hook in Brooklyn. Cornelius Van Brunt was one of the founding fathers of Breukelen. He and his family farmed the land along the Gowanus Creek and helped forge the eclectic society that became Brooklyn. Centuries later, in the 1800s, the Brooklyn waterfront hosted gin, rum and whiskey distilleries.  Van Brunt Stillhouse's finely crafted spirits continue the pioneering spirit of Brooklyn. After only a few years of production, Van Brunt Stillhouse has created a diverse resume of spirits, beginning with Due North Rum, made from unprocessed
cane sugar. Following that, they released Red Hook Grappa and Van Brunt Stillhouse American Whiskey. Since then, they've
added Bourbon, Rye and Moonshine to their diverse roster.


The Gilded Grape offers many selections from Van Brunt Stillhouse, like their American Whiskey, a four grain whiskey made primarily from malted barley and wheat, with a little bit of corn and a touch of rye. This unique whiskey has the floral notes of a malt whiskey with the new barrel sweetness of a bourbon. The Gilded. Grape also carries their Bourbon Whiskey, a wheated bourbon made with 65% organic New York State corn. This American classic is carefully made with only the best ingredients.
