100% Grüner Veltliner from Wagram, Austria. Certified Sustainable.
ABOUT: Gruner Veltliner is by far the most important white wine in Austria. Thanks to the deep Loess soil in his vineyards – Hundsberg and Kirchenfeld – Paul D. is able to grow grapes that produce a lightly citrus and fresh wine. Vines are between 20-30 years old, and are grown in loamy Loess soil at an altitude of 600ft above sea level.
VINIFICATION: Grapes are harvested in October, and the wine undergoes primary alcoholic fermentation and aging in Stainless Steel tanks.
TASTING NOTES: Light Bodied White wine. Clear & bright, with Yellow-Green hints. Aromas of Winter Apple, Alpine Flowers, White Currant & Honeydew Melon. Dry & crisp on the palate, this refreshing Grüner shows notes of Green Apple, Citrus & classic White Pepper, with an excellent & persistent finish.
FOOD PAIRING: Easy to drink, and best paired with Chicken, Pork, River Fish (Trout), Shellfish (think Lobster, Scallops, Oysters), Salads, and Vegetables; this wine will also pair exceptionally well with spicy Thai food, Indian curries & Japanese Udon or Ramen, Sushi/Sashimi, or Katsudon.
